The Endangered Species Print Project

Our good friends Molly Schafer, and Jenny Kendler have started a great print series where different artist create an image of an endangered species, and the number of existing species corresponds to the number of limited edition prints offered by The Endangered Species Print Project (ESPP). < Follow this link for more information on the series, and to see some of the work thats come out so far. Your support of this print series goes directly to organizations that oversee the well-being of specific furry, feathered, and slimy friends.

DIY Rapture

Bill, Josh, Leah, and myself are flying out to London later this week to install our first major Team Lump exhibition since we did the "Glad To See You" show at 1026 in 07. We're building two big installations on site with mostly found materials, but I don't want to give away too much right now. I'll get the pictures up for you to see soon.

In That Gold Land

curated by Thad Kellstadt

In That Gold Land is a group show that Lump friend Thad Kellstadt put together at Heaven Gallery. Show opened on May 16th, and runs into mid-June. If you're around Chicago or Wicker Park stop in , the gallery is right off Milwaukee Ave. Me and Bill are in this show with some other greats artists and friends like Thad, Jacob Ciocci, Josh Tonies, Matt Barton, Jesse Hulcher, Ladyboy, etc, the list goes on. The show was sponsored by the Harold Arts organization which is a grassroots residency program and self-publisher of HARQ, the Harold Arts Residency Quarterly. Nicholas Wylie, an overall rad person, and Harold Arts organizer was also in the show. Here's a few pics of the lay out. Big thanks to Thad and Jesse for housing everyone and being great hosts.

cool, calm and collected

Article. Bill Thelen's AID's quilt from his 2007 Branch Gallery solo show "minor character" has found its way into the Weatherspoon Museum of Arts' current "Cool, Calm and Collected" exhibit. The show is a chance for them to show off the recent purchases and additions to the expansive contemporary collection that the Weatherspoon is building in Greensboro. I love this museum. They put together some great shows and have a really nice space. This "Cool and Collected" show is not up for very much longer, so if you haven't checked it out yet, you should.

Jeremy Taylor showing "Salus" in Charlottesville

There is a lot going on this month in the Lumpy world of art, Tory Wright (blog forthcoming) had her solo show "Pleasure Seekers" open last Friday at Lump, Josh Rickards new solo show titled "Do Unto Others and Then Run Like a Mother" opened at Vox Populi in Philadelphia, and Jeremy Taylor's show "Salus" opened at the Garage in Charlottesville, VA. Josh and Tory's shows will be promptly posted but I wanted to get this up to let people know about his closing on the 27th of Febzzzzz.

From the Garage blog: "Jeremy is an artist and professor at James Madison University. His new show, “Salus,” features new drawings, paintings, prints, and objects…all made from natural, organic pigments, and ecologically responsible materials. “Salus” means “safety” in Latin; Jeremy uses the theme of safety to address issues of how animals adapt to their environment in a world far removed from nature."

Make sure you make it to the closing of 'Salus' on February 27th.

Also, Team Lump is in a show currently on display at the AVA center in Chattanooga, TN, called Seed: Bin.

Cockeyed Press recently released their first limited edition print of 2009, and it's a TeamLump cluster@#$%!!! We put the composition together and then Bill Fick meticulously carved it out of linoleum and made a series of 25 prints. All purchases go to help TeamLump get over to London this summer for our next collective installation, at Cell Space.
